They build their Personal Brand by authentically sharing their stories with the world. And you can do it too.

You are your own brand.

Your personal brand is how you represent yourself online and offline. How you want the world to see you. It is a combination of skills, experience, and personality.

It is a skill of telling your story with a purpose. It is the impression people get from your online representation.

A personal brand is an image you’ve created around yourself.

A personal brand is not only for who owns the business but anyone can build their personal brand and share their story with the whole world.

Whether you want to be an actor, comedian, fashion icon, chef, singer, or artist, in this digital world, you can be anything and build your brand in your area of interest.

We all have something unique in us and that’s what makes us different from others. If you want to make an impact in the world, you should work on creating your personal brand.

  • Have a clear focus. Decide your key message and stick to it. Keep your message focused on your target audience. This way you can create content around your personal brand and others can easily find you and define you. Carve a niche, and then carve a niche within your niche. The best personal brands are very-very specific.
  • Be genuine. This way your audience can connect with you in a personal level and It will become easier for you to manage your personal brand daily.
  • Be consistent. It is very important for building your presence in any social media platform. People can easily recognize you if you consistently create content around your niche. And for being consistent you have to create content regularly and, in this process, you will learn a lot.
  • Be ready to fail. Failure is hard, and all of us want to avoid it. However, to have a personal brand that stands out, you need to have a failure.

Walt Disney said “I think it’s important to have a good hard failure when you’re young. I learned a lot from that. Because it makes you kind of aware of what can happen to you.”

Here’s are 4 things that you should never do if you are building your personal brand.

  • Never Attack Others. Focus on yourself, not on others. Your personal brand is all about you. It’s not about your competitors or people who you don’t like.

So, don’t bother about them because when you start attacking others, you’re showing a negative side of personality and it is a side that a lot of people didn’t like. And moreover, it’s not required. Its just a waste of time and energy.

  • Accept that you don’t know everything. Some people try to portray themselves as an expert in every filed and they know everything. They have opinion on each and every issue and sometimes this attitude backfire them.

Accept that you are expert in your own niche. You don’t need to know everything. And when ever sharing your opinion on any subject that is not your area of expertise, be responsible, do your research and watch your words. When you are on a public platform it is your responsibility to provide genuine information to your community.

  • Remember That Emotions Count. When you have a personal brand, you are an Influencer. People connect to you on a personal level. So, try not to vent your emotions on social media. Building a personal brand is all about creating connections between you and your audience to provide value. Always consider the emotional impact of your message before you show it on social media.
  • Never boast or brag online. Personal branding is not about being a narcissist. It’s not about misleading people or amplifying your abilities and successes.

You also have a basic idea of what you should do and what you should not do if you are trying to build your personal brand. However, there are no hard-set rules but these general tips and tricks will help you to take your first step.
