Fruits that can Help You to Lose Weight


Nature has its way of responding to the needs of our body, our ancestors used to rely on nature for food and the nutrients they can get from it to sustain life. In fact, the lifespan of the earlier humans is much longer without the help of vaccines, supplements, and medicines.

But our lifestyle changed the way we put vitamins and minerals in our body and relied on everything instant. The fruits and vegetables around us should be sufficient to our needs, that is why we need to understand how fruits work best for us to maximize the vitamins and minerals it can offer and help us achieve our health goals.

Many people resort to eating fruits for weight loss and management. Fruits are known to be a good, all-natural source of soluble fiber, Vitamin C and good fats with fewer carbohydrates. But not all fruits are created equal and it is best to know what is most beneficial for your weight loss journey.

Fruits That Help You Lose Weight:

1.   Watermelon

This fruit is about 90% water so imagine how it can help make you feel full with just a slice. Watermelon is perfect for snacking and meal replacement, especially for dinner. If you have been exercising a lot, watermelon can also soothe your aching muscles making it a perfect post-meal snack or drink. A cup of diced watermelon has 46 calories with 0 fat.

2.   Avocado

This fruit has been a staple for salads and sandwiches of people who are trying to lose weight because of high-fat content – but the good kind of fat. There were studies showing how avocado can help lower low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or the “bad cholesterol” in the body due to its monounsaturated fat content. It can make you feel full longer, with less sugar and more fiber. A cup of avocado gives you 234 calories with 1 gram fat.

3.   Apple

This is another fruit that contains high amounts of water at around 85% and will surely make you full. Make sure to eat with the skin because it is rich in pectin, a type of fiber that helps address a lot of help problems like high cholesterol, GERD, gastrointestinal flue and it helps prevent colon diseases and even colon cancer. It also contains ursolic acid which has been reported to lower the risk of obesity. A cup of diced apples has 57 calories and 0.1 gram fat.

4.   Peach

This fruit has high fiber, high water content making it one of the best fruit choices for weight loss. It is rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E too. It contains metabolism-boosting catechins, similar to what helps weight loss in green tea but without the tannins which mean no gastrointestinal issues. One cup of peaches contains 61 calories with 0.4g fat.

5.   Kiwi

A piece of kiwi can fill you up with a lot of fiber, Vitamin K and Vitamin C with just 42 calories and just 0.4 grams of fat. The fiber you can get from kiwi can help suppress appetite by making you feel full. Its seeds can also aid digestion making your bowel movement more regular. It is also rich in antioxidants that make your skin look better even after losing some weight.

6.   Orange

A cup of oranges gives you 4.3 grams of dietary which is essential to weight loss by helping regularize your bowel movements. It is also packed with more than 100% of the recommended daily allowance of Vitamin C that helps boost the immune system, help repair your muscles and blood vessels especially if you have been exercising. An orange fruit has 45 calories.

7.   Pineapple

Whether you are trying to curb your sweet cravings or really trying to shed some weight, pineapple is the perfect fruit for you. It contains bromelain that aside from reducing inflammation, may support weight loss and repair muscle tears. A cup of pineapple chunks gives you 83 calories and 0.2 gram of fat.

8.   Blueberry

The rich blue-purple color of blueberries is from a substance called anthocyanin, a type of flavonoid. Flavonoids are known to help fight free radicals, reduce inflammation, and aid detoxification. Blueberries are a healthy choice for snacking and power juicing. A cup of blueberries is packed with 114 of potassium that helps boost metabolism and give you energy during exercise with just 84 calories and 0.5 gram of fat.

Bonus Tips:

Fruits are nature’s gift to mankind and are always a better and healthier choice for snacks and juices. But in everyone’s weight loss journey, it is also important to be watchful of the sugar content of everything we eat, even with fruits because some contain sugar that might be too much for your recommended daily allowance.

Likewise, it is best to stick with the real fruit that on the canned ones which are already preserved in heavy syrup that contains too much sugar. Make sure to properly wash fruits properly before consuming them, because it may contain pesticides. Better yet, buy fruits from your trusted organic market.

Lastly, anything too much is not beneficial. Take your weight loss journey easy, stick to an easy to follow an exercise routine, burn more calories than your intake and you are surely on your way to achieving your fitness goals.
