Rosemary is an aromatic evergreen shrub with needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple and blue flowers. It is native to the Mediterranean region. It is a member of the mint family Lamiaceae and has a fibrous root system. The name rosemary is derived from the Latin for dew (rose) and Sea ( marinus ) or dew of the sea.
Myth: According to legend, it was draped around the Greek goddess Aphrodite when she rose from the sea, born of Uranus’s semen. The Virgin Mary is said to have spread her blue cloak over a white-blossomed rosemary bush when she was resting, and the flowers turned blue. The shrub then became known as the ‘Rose of Mary’.
Rosemary essential oil is extracted from the fresh flowering top through the steam distillation method. It is rich in antioxidant ie carnosol. Which helps in fighting free radicals apart from that it has anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Health benefits of rosemary essential oil are listed below:
Rosemary is known for the anti-inflammatory property hence this can be particularly useful for stomach issues because they are often triggered by chronic inflammation. By reducing the inflammation, rosemary can subsequently reduce chronic gut pain.

The eucalyptol and camphor present in rosemary essential oil help dilate the bronchi in your lungs and aid the better flow of air.
